Position Summary:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Forensic Architect to join our successful firm. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated person with a well-rounded skill set to join the team. The Forensic Architect’s responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional Architects. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of architecture, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Review/Understand Construction Plans/Documents/Timeline for New or Existing Buildings, etc. and Standards of Care
  • Performs structural assessments, design compliance reports, and building envelope investigations for both commercial and residential structures
  • Conduct forensic field investigations into the cause and origin of incidents related to residential and commercial property damage claims and/or construction or design defect claims
  • Evaluation/Cost Analyses of scopes of work for remediation and/or design documents for repair of existing structures
  • Investigate participants involved with the design and construction of building projects to the industry standards of care
  • Understand Construction Documents (i.e., Contracts, ASI’s, RFI’s, Request for Payments, Punch Lists, Substantial Completion Forms, Schedules, Permits, etc.)
  • Effectively communicate technical information, written and verbally, to various audiences
  • Prepare clear, concise, cohesive, accurate, and defensible reports
  • Provide deposition, mediation, arbitration and/or trial testimony
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed

     

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree from NAAB accredited school
  • Master of Architecture preferred
  • Active architectural license acquired by the ARE
  • Ten years of architectural design experience
  • Exceptional technical report writing skills
  • Construction administration/management experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the residential (IRC), commercial (IBC) and existing (IEBC) I-codes
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Able to travel, within driving distance, to attend industry trade events and networking opportunities
